Pondering Being a Good Human and Striving to be Good at Being Human - From A Long Line

Being a Good Human and Striving to Be Good at Being Human

From a long line

You and I come from a long line of humans. You and I date back several millennia. We unlike the first humans have a long history. Our births are dependent upon 1000's of generations before us. This for us is fact. It is one thing we can know for certain.  We (specifically those who can read this now) didn't just appear. This history and recognition of those who came before is important.

Another fact, those who came before us experienced suffering, joy, love, loss, and many other experiences. Human history is full of horrors and joys, curses and blessings, atrocities and benignancy. Your and my ancestors are in many ways the same. We all bleed red when pricked. We all are of the same race. Skin color, height, width, voice timbre, male, female make no difference when it comes to race. We are all of the same race. We all are human.

Anyone who tells you or me that there is more than one race is lying. Not only are they lying, they do not have your nor my nor even their own best interest in mind. Instead, their intentions are divisive and destructive. Their intentions are cruel and inhumane. They will not be the ones bringing peace or being peaceful. They, on the other hand, will be the ones striving for power and working to manipulate all for their improprietous gain.

However, I believe humankind is meant for something better. We are separate and distinct from the rest of the animals on this planet. What ape, monkey, cat, dog, fish, bird or reptile has learned to speak, read, or write? Certainly they have their own form of intelligence, instincts, and in some cases even bring comfort, but in no way is it on the same scale of any reasonable human.

Humans are exceptional, different, set apart, some may even pose Holy.

If this is so (that humans are exceptional) and I for one believe it is, then it begs us to answer the questions: What does it mean to be a good human and how can we become good at being human?

Pondering Common Core

*Image by Amerigus  Shocking:  America continues to except ‘common’ as the word that describes its educational system. America was founded on exceptional thought and consideration. America is uncommon in it’s choice of government and bill of rights to it’s citizens that in many ways expands around the globe. From the people who spread the ideals of freedom prior to 1776, to those who fought to secure America’s Independence, and those who fought for a more perfect union, the essence of America is far from common.   Yet, our educational system continues it’s aim to reduce everyone to commonness.   Furthering my research and delving into the common core web site for more information and understanding, I am appalled to read the following:   The composite standards [of Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore] have a number of features that can inform an international benchmarking process for the development of K–6 mathematics standards in the U.S. First, the composite standar...

pondering - ELECTIONS - Odd Truth

Odd Truth : The US Presidency is not the most Important Election. The Most Important Elections are related to those who actually have the greatest power - those in Congress. We could have a dumb president and the country would mostly get along just fine. But the moment we have a  Dumb Congress , no  Smart President  can fully save the day. Trump definitely exposed the width, breadth, depth and  putridity  of the  SWAMP . Unfortunately, America voted for the majority of them. America  needs  to vote better and really work and push to have a fair, open, honest and free election. Don't ever think that a Representative or Senator is a small election with little consequence. Every elected official contributes to how our country leans, works with or wars against others. We need to elect people who will understand, they are not there to be served by us, but they are there to serve and represent  US(A) .

pondering the DEATH PENALTY

Of late, I have seen many Facebook posts pushing a statement for the end of the death penalty. In a perfect world, where no one ever commits a heinous deadly crime, I would say, ‘Yes, we don’t need a death penalty.’ However, in our world, where crime and hate run rampant, I believe there should be a death penalty heinous deadly crimes.   One of the posts that I find most appalling is this one:   “The death penalty is not about whether people deserve to die for the crimes they commit. The real question of capital punishment in this country is, Do we deserve to kill?”   ― Bryan Stevenson, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption This particular quote has a very low view of humanity and suggests that we the people who have not committed a heinous deadly crime should lower our heads in shame and ask ourselves, “do we deserve to kill?”   This is extremely bad logic and a poor way to look at and respond to heinous deadly crimes.   We have law because people encro...
